Le Antenne è il nome proprio di due celebri galassie a spirale interagenti, scoperte da William Herschel nel 1785, visibili nella costellazione del Corvo, note anche con le sigle di catalogo NGC 4038/4039 e C 60/61. Devono il loro nome alle due lunghe strutture filamentose che da esse si diramano verso l’esterno, formate da gas, polveri e stelle.
La Nebulosa Trifida (nota anche come M 20, o NGC 6514) è una nebulosa a emissione e una regione H II situata nella costellazione del Sagittario. Deve il suo nome alle tre linee scure di nubi di polvere che la dividono in tre parti.
IC 2944 è una regione H II della Via Lattea australe visibile nella costellazione del Centauro; la sua distanza è pari a circa 2000 parsec (6500 anni luce) e fa parte del Braccio del Sagittario, il più vicino braccio di spirale della Via Lattea posto più internamente rispetto al nostro.
La Nebulosa Testa di Cavallo è una nebulosa oscura nella costellazione di Orione. La nebulosa si trova appena sotto Alnitak, la stella più a est della cintura di Orione. È parte di un turbine di gas e polveri, sagomato come la testa di un cavallo, da cui il nome.
La Nebulosa della Carena è un oggetto celeste posto nel cuore della Via Lattea australe, nella costellazione della Carena. È perfettamente visibile anche ad occhio nudo, sebbene la sua osservazione sia limitata alle regioni dell’emisfero australe terrestre e a quelle tropicali boreali.
